There is always something about Monday.
At least for me, I get a lot done.
But there is this tension. This newness. This pit in your stomach. There’s too much to do, too many things you pushed back all week that come back around on Monday.
Or maybe I just need to put my head down and work.
That’s what I was thinking today.
Also, completely random:
The Major System to memorize numbers:
If you haven’t heard of it, the Major system will help you remember numbers easily. Essentially, it takes the numbers 0-9 and replaces them with consonant sounds. That way, you can create works from the consonantes, and have something that is easy to remember.
For example, 27, 45, 95. It’s hard to keep those in your head too long without repeating them by rote over and over. And then, try to think of them tomorrow or in a week: you’re screwed.
However, with the Major system, you have the follow correspondence:
- 0 = S or Z
- 1 = T or D
- 2 = N
- 3 = M
- 4 = R
- 5 = L
- 6 = SH or CH
- 7 = G or K
- 8 = F or V
- 9 = P or B
So 27 could be “Neck” “Nick” “Nack”. 45 could be “Rail.” 95 could be “Pool”
You could picture someone with a GIANT NECK sitting on the RAIL line for a train and dreaming of being by the POOL.
Weird, non-sensical images that we imagine often stick in the head.
That’s what I’m working on lately. I have decided to do all the boring work it takes to pass the advanced next year…so you’ll likely see more info about study techniques and memorization ideas as the year goes on.
Peace.
